How erotic literature can boost your sex life

image

If you’re new to erotic literature, or indeed, a “virgin,” let me explain. Erotic literature is not pornography. It is often labelled thus by old-fashioned types. But rest assured, there are many of us living in the 21st century that do not agree.

To begin with, there are many different types of erotic literature; from “soft” literature like the Mills & Boon of old, right up to “down and dirty” sex stories. Look around, see what suits you and what gets you going. There’s no shame in it. When you’ve discovered your taste, you can surf to your heart’s content, or purchase a book from a site such as this one.

There are more people reading this kind of stuff than you think. I personally know several people who I NEVER thought would be into it – but on finding out about my website, they love it and have admitted that they do enjoy erotica. Don’t get me wrong – I get teased about my naughty stories and my website, but at the end of the day, it’s what I do. The saying goes “Stick with what you know”, and that’s what I’m doing. The positive feedback and lovely e-mails I receive are proof that people like what I do. So there’s no reason for you to be ashamed.

There are many reasons people read erotic literature; to get ideas for their own writing, it was recommended by friends, or to help them achieve orgasm through masturbation and so on. But this article focuses on how it can boost your sex life. In this instance, by sex life I mean with a partner, rather than “solo-loving.”

Erotica can enhance your libido, and therefore your sex life in several ways. You can keep it to yourself; read it in private, say, for half an hour before your lover comes home, and you’ll be all fired up by the time they walk through the door. Give them a homecoming they’ll never forget! Some people prefer to keep their reading a secret as they think their partner won’t approve. If this is the case, then so be it. But that’s no excuse for you to miss out, and at the end of the day, they’ll miss out too – so if you want to indulge, then go for it!

Or perhaps you’d like to share the experience? Either cuddle close and read it together, or read it aloud to one another. Some understandably may feel silly doing this – if so, why not try it on the telephone first? However you do this, it’s bound to get you in the mood! But do bear in mind, if a hetero couple are reading together it may be wise to choose the reading material jointly. It’s often said that women respond more fully to written erotica than men – I’m not so sure – but there are definitely types of writing that appeal to one gender (not to mention different tastes) more than the other. Choose wisely, and find something you’ll both enjoy.

However you decide to proceed, whether reading from a page or screen, or aloud, the images floating through both your heads will give you a delicious thrill – see if you can manage to finish the chapter!

Another bonus of erotica is it can aid your imagination. Maybe your love life has become stuck in a rut, or maybe you just love to try new things. Stories can help. You never know, you may read about something you’ve never even thought of – which for you could be a totally mind-blowing move!

Last but not least, a little something for you shy ones. Erotica can help you too! To begin with, if you haven’t yet taken that first step into erotic literature – be brave! It’s not scary.

Once you’ve found something that takes your fancy, you may be a little unwilling to let your partner know. Perhaps they’d be embarrassed too? If you would like them to know, you could “accidentally on purpose” leave a webpage open, or a book lying around. They’ll likely take the hint then – if they ask and you’re still shy – say a friend recommended it. You’re doing nothing wrong. In this way, also, you’re getting them involved and paving the way for erotica to be something you both enjoy. And long may you enjoy it!

An added bonus is if you both indulge in erotic stories, you can be a little bolder in asking for what you want in bed. But instead of having to ask directly, or shuffle around like a mad thing on the bed, you can simply say “Ooh, that sounds fun,” or “We should try that.” See? A winner all round.

On the flip side, though, you may want to keep this your little secret – and surprise your partner with your newly awakened sex drive and imaginative ideas. Somehow I don’t think they’ll be complaining…

The important thing to remember, though, is do it for yourself. Take your time in choosing the sort of stuff you want to read – there’s so much out there – and then indulge as and when you require. Perhaps you could supplement your literature purchase with a battery operated friend? But that’s another story.
