Man's guide to Knickers and Bras

By Carrie White on

There is such a vast array of knickers and bras that even we women get confused, so it’s hardly surprising if the men get totally lost, too. Well, not anymore! This guide lists some of the main type of knickers and bras that are likely to be found both in online and offline stores, so there is absolutely no reason for anyone to be completely confused ever again.

  First the Knickers:
  • Girl Boxers or Boy Shorts – Sits higher on the hips than Hipsters and buttocks are completely covered. Suits all body types are probably the most comfortable to wear.
  • Briefs – Another name for knickers, these are the commonest type found and are the easiest to wear.
  • Cami Knickers or French Knickers – Extremely sexy, silky boxer-type knickers. They sit high on the waist and skim over the buttocks.
  • Crotchless – Standard bikini briefs with an open crotch for easy access.
  • G-String – Knickers with a thin piece of material covering the front and an even thinner strip that sits between the buttocks.
  • Hipsters – Sits low on the hips and clings to the buttocks allowing the lower half of the buttocks to be on show.
  • Thongs – Thin covering panty at the front but not as thin as G-Strings. Has a Y or T shaped thin back panel.
  • Bikini Briefs – Slightly skimpier than Briefs with a high cut leg.
  • Full BriefsBriefs that almost cover up the navel but completely cover the hips and buttocks.
   And then the Bras:
  • Full Cup – Considered the most comfortable bra to wear and provides good support. Covers the entire bust and is particularly ideal for big-breasted women and women who are pregnant.
  • Balcony Bra or Balconette – Uplifts slightly but enhances you naturally. Firm support which makes it ideal for day and evening wear. The Balcony Bra covers just over half of the breast unlike the half cup. Suitable for all women and bust sizes.
  • Smooth Cup Bra – The type of bra that will enhance what you wear giving you a smooth, crease free silhouette. No seams on cup and may not be under wired. Good support and lift. Ideal for evening wear.
  • Push up Bra – A deep plunge bra that is designed to flaunt the neckline and cleavage. Cups are slightly padded to give an added lift. Can be worn at any time especially for evenings.
  • Half Cup Bra – An extremely flattering style of bra that provides good support. Cups only cover half the breasts. Pads or fillets can be removed if necessary.
  • Peek-a-boo Bra – Doesn’t leave much to the imagination as there is virtually no cup to speak off. The support only comes from the under wiring and is best used for seduction and play.

Of course, there are so many more different styles and varieties than this, but this guide lists the most typical selection available and it generally covers most likely types found here at SexShop365
