The Male Pubic Shaving Guide

By Carrie White on

Most of the products for hair removal on sale apart from facial hair are geared towards women. Along with numerous articles and information regarding pubic hair shaving for women on the internet, there is very limited advice for men.

One of the attractions for men to shave their pubic hair and balls is the increase in sensitivity around this area that it provides. So how can a man shave this area without cutting himself to shreds?

What not to do!

  • Don’t use the electric shaver that you use to shave your facial hair. Not only is it unhygienic but the blades are not designed for the different type of hair down below. The skin around the scrotal sac is way too thin, too.
  • Don’t book in for a Brazilian at a local beauty salon. It will cost you a fortune and due to the sensitivity of the scrotum, will be extremely painful!
  • Don’t use disposal shaving blades. These will just cause all sorts of problems including rashes and in-growing hairs. Eek!
  • Never use hair removing methods that are not designed for genital or pubic area use.

Despite the problems associated with shaving, this method seems to be recommended. If you want to avoid the itching and the soreness that shaving can bring, it’s advisable to find out a better alternative. Of course, it all comes down to personal preference.

Methods to try/consider:

  1. Waxing. Very painful especially if you have a lot of hair.
  2. Electrolysis. Expensive but lasts forever. It uses electricity to destroy the hair follicle. Don’t use if you have a fear of needles.
  3. Laser Hair Removal. Expensive and can last a long time depending on the type you would choose.
  4. Hair removal cream for pubic hair use only. Those suggested are Nair or Veet.

Shaving:-

Shaving Your Pubic Hair

1. Prepare for scrotum and pubic hair shaving by selecting the best sharp razor and great shaving cream. A shaving cream for sensitive skin works best, and brands like The Art of Shaving, Colgate, and Neutrogena are all options for shaving this area. Choose a new razor blade on a razor you’re familiar with so there are no surprises.
2. Hop in a steamy shower. Take a full shower before shaving, so the hair gets soft and easier to shave. Get a full lather of shaving cream on the base of your shaft and around it, as well as the scrotum.
3. Start shaving at your shaft. Stroke downwards from the head of your penis and then continue to shave around the upper pubic area. If you’d like a completely clean shaven look, continue to remove all the hair around the shaft as well.
4. Continue to stroke down into the hairline around your testicles, and then carefully shave your testicles with a smooth upward motion.
5. Rinse and dry the area carefully. You’ll want to moisturize your skin afterwards for comfort, and adding a slight dusting of powder can help with any potential chafing.
