You’re right that it depends on the woman, but I would say that in general, women like to have a wide range of types of sex. If she is getting only hard, rough sex every night, she’ll be craving a tender session of love-making. If you’re forever being gentle with her, she’ll have a hankering for a rougher throw-down. In the same way that men like to have things changed up for them visually, women like to have things changed up for them in terms of technique.
As to the ‘appeal’ of the rougher sex, part of it is the fantasy of a man taking control and the woman being able to just allow it to ‘happen’, rather than the more emotionally complex nature of lovemaking. Of course, part of it is just the sensation–some women just like the feeling of rougher intercourse. The best way to try rougher sex out is to just ask your partner what she is interested in. I know not everyone likes to ask such direct questions, so you can also try to read her signs–if she pulls your hair or nips at you with her teeth, she may well be letting you know that she’s interested in something a bit rougher.
